A Different Approach to Family Advocacy
Families are the foundation of thriving communities. Stable Families Advocacy Center takes a different approach to family advocacy by combining parent defense, interdisciplinary legal advocacy, and healing-centered support to prevent unnecessary family separation and strengthen outcomes for children and caregivers. We partner with families navigating child welfare, juvenile justice, and other systems to protect relationships, build stability, and create pathways toward long-term well-being.
Families Belong Together
Children, and even adults, do not long for just any loving family. More than anything, they hope that their own family and the people they love become the healthiest, strongest versions of themselves.
At Stable Families Advocacy Center, we believe families deserve support before challenges escalate into crises and separation becomes the only response. We walk hand in hand with families, creating pathways toward healing, stability, and long-term well-being.
When Families Don't Get the Support They Need
Families experiencing child welfare involvement and juvenile legal matters often find themselves navigating multiple systems that operate independently. Without timely and coordinated support, challenges can escalate, increasing the risk of family separation, educational disruption, justice system involvement, and long-term instability. When families don’t receive the right support at the right time, children and youth face lifelong consequences.
The Challenges Are Even Greater in Washington, DC
Four-year high school graduation rates tell a powerful story about the long-term impact of system involvement. According to the Office of the State Superintendent of Education of the District of Columbia, for the 2024-2025 school year:
79% of all DC students graduate from high school within four years.
Only 24% of students in the Child and Family Services Agency’s care graduate from high school within four years.
Only 10% of students enrolled in the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services or the Department of Corrections during high school graduate within 4 years.
These outcomes reflect systemic gaps in prevention, continuity of care, and coordinated support — not individual failure. The earlier families receive support, the greater the opportunity for children to stay connected to their families, schools, and futures.
A Proven Approach to Strengthening Families
We combine legal advocacy, social work, wellness services, therapeutic support, and parent partnership to provide families with coordinated, healing-centered support.
Research demonstrates that when families receive coordinated advocacy and support, outcomes improve. Interdisciplinary models help families achieve greater stability, reduce unnecessary system involvement, and create lasting pathways toward healing and connection.
